A couple weeks ago, I posted a message I received from Johnny Pippins, a man who has been incarcerated for almost a quarter century and who has worked hard to turn his life around. Many of you responded positively to his story; some asked how to help. One way you can help Johnny’s case is to sign his petition, linked below. Another way is to reach out to him and his wife Tracy via email at BeforeTheSemesterStarts@gmail.com.
Hopefully we can help get the ball rolling for Johnny.
Although I have done so privately, I want to publicly thank Dr. Loury for the attention that he has brought to my case. I would also like to thank all of you for your advice, support, and encouragements; those commodities are scarce resources in places like these.
Please know that last weekend that my family started a Facebook page called "Before the Semester Starts." A change.org petition is tethered to it. I am asking anyone who would like to support my efforts to please sign the petition and invite others to do so. I want to have it to the Gov by July 1. I am also making email contact available.
There were several recommendations of a suit against the Review Board, but certainly you can understand my reluctance to do so. I think there are other ways to prod and compel them into action—like through the Governor's office.
I am asking for your help and advice in doing so. Thank you all so very much!
Johnny Pippins
I have signed and donated.
I tried to sign the petition: both on the Facebook page, and directly to the link, I was told it was not possible. It would not open.
