Good afternoon Professor Loury - I watch and read you whenever I can, including on YouTube.
I am a victim of two-tier justice. I am a US Army combat veteran (Gulf War) and a 27-year law-enforcement officer (US Secret Service and DC city Inspector General's Office). My situation is similar to Bernie Goetz or Daniel Penny, except that no one was shot or even hurt.
Last summer, my DC Metro subway car was taken over by subway dancers. I am sure you are familiar with this phenomenon. Basically, athletic men play loud obscene music and put on a display of acrobatic dancing, in exchange for "donations." In my mind, this is robbery by fear, as well as false imprisonment and common-law assault, as they are invading the personal space of a captive audience.
I was trapped by the dancers and the architecture of the subway car. I took action to defend myself and fellow passengers. This action consisted of shoving one man five feet, with one hand.
Here are links to video of the incident. One is from the Metro's own (silent) surveillance camera: https://t.co/OhRKt3MKpa. Please watch the whole thing. A shorter one is from a fan of the dancers who took a cellphone video: https://tinyurl.com/3pwryx43. This one has sound, so you can get some idea of the type of music being played. The song is "One of Wun" by a gentleman named Gunna; you can find lyrics at Gunna – one of wun Lyrics | Genius Lyrics. Not exactly "The Lonely Goatherd" (although I bet the Trapp family would cease and desist if passengers expressed offense). You can also hear me cursing at the dancers in this video, but as I said in court, "when you're dealing with lawless men, sometimes you have to say f***."
I was subjected to a high-tech manhunt, including an investigative stop by three uniformed Metro Transit Police officers, and was finally arrested for misdemeanor assault. I was recently convicted - the judge said my testimony was "not credible." (no juries are provided in DC for misdemeanor cases where the penalty is less than six months.) My sentencing is May 14. I stand to be incarcerated for up to 180 days, and will most likely be fired from my job at the OIG. This conviction will make it difficult if not impossible to be hired in my profession, or indeed anywhere, given the phobia for workplace violence.
Nothing was done to the dancers, even though they admitted and are on video committing multiple misdemeanors of their own. The man I pushed did not even show up for trial. One standard is being applied to the productive people of DC, and one to the non-working class. We are expected to pay up, sit down, and shut up.
I would appreciate if you could give my situation some exposure. I have also contacted Prof. McWhorter, so perhaps the two of you could discuss it on one of your shows.
Here are some links to news articles about my case - of course, they are slanted against me:

Thank you for anything you can do, Professor. I appreciate your nuanced approach to urban issues.
Very respectfully,
Harold A. "Harry" Christy
A mouse infestation is a serious problem. I’d have good reason to call an exterminator and get the problem addressed. But if that exterminator then BURNED DOWN MY HOUSE I’d be furious. If the exterminator then retorted “what are you, pro-mouse or something?” I’d be livid.
We don’t need to toss out our constitution in order to deal with our immigration issues. The Trump admin is perfectly capable of deporting these individuals in an expedient and legal manner, but they’re intentionally choosing to skirt due process. Why?
The disregard for the constitution is astounding. Pressuring Pence to break the ECA and overturn the election, trying to override birthright citizenship via executive order, skirting due process in these deportations, and directly disobeying a Supreme Court directive… this was once the party that revered the constitution. How did the GOP get to this stage? What needs to be done to remedy this?
