I've listened to hundreds of hours of the Glenn Show. It is one my favorite podcasts and Glenn is my favorite public intellectual. But WOW....This was the absolute most painful discussion. I was literally screaming to myself. Where did you find these guys? To use Glenn's words, Bessner is an "empty suit" "lightweight" embarrassment. He is EXACTLY the person I would never want teaching my kids anything. Limited understanding and faux intellectual - nearly everything he said is dead wrong. But good thing you brought on Tyler to agree with whatever Daniel said. Just a complete disaster of a conversation.

Couldn't agree more. Long time fan of Glenn and John but this conversation was painful and beneath them. Talk about missing the forest for the trees!

And, having Bessner opine on the topic is like asking the arsonist to explain fire prevention. He also comes off as the earnest freshman home for winter break, eager to trumpet the latest faux intellectual victim fad he became indoctrinated with in his "Gender, Colonialism, Capitalism and the Patriarchy" class -- but without the wisdom of anyone on the panel to check him. Glenn can, and should do better.

You're correct on all counts.

So what can we do? The discussion is going to be had regardless of whether the discussion will be sufficiently informed or not, so perhaps the best way forward is tolerate the "empty suit(s)" (difficult as that is) and to refute them via these comments which are in a way part of the podcast's discussion. Just like one can't understand Shakespeare without the margin comments, one can't fully appreciate the Glenn Show with the subscriber comments.

Or just do the next podcast on Gaza live from Gaza and let observations speak for themselves.
