At some point, people can only be responsible for what they do and what's going on in their vicinity; attributing strange and probably unknown practices of people in places they can't pronounce to their tacit support is straining things to the point of ridiculousness.
If the world threatened economic sanctions against countries and institutions that support slavery, it won't end slavery overnight, but it would make a huge difference.
