I have tremendous sympathy for the Comperatore family and all of the victims of this shooting. I should have been clearer about that. That man died a hero, but that probably isn't very comforting for his family right now. Our public discourse has become so harsh that people think nothing of wishing violence against politicians, Justices, and other celebrities. Kyle Gass, Jack Black's Tenacious D partner, was presented with a birthday cake on Sunday and his wish was that next time they not miss Trump. That was a joke. John was serious. I don't want his career to be over, but he needs to publicly acknowledge how wrong he was. He needs to do that even if he doesn't believe it.

Totally agree. I do not want John’s career to end. I love his perspective. It’s absolutely interesting. Having said that, I put myself in the shoes of the Comperatore family and I can’t imagine the despair I would feel. People like John, who were promoting this action, need not only to apologize, but they also need to pay reparations to the injured party. Yes, I know, there is little doubt that Crooks was not a subscriber to Loury’s substack, and did not get his marching orders from John. But, there needs to be consequences for this behavior and it does not need to only be John who contributes. How about a gofundme to the Comperatore’s from all those public figures out there who promoted this action, including John?
