Right now I’m having fun watching black non traditional students in their forties and fifties treat a white professor from California like he’s a white devil installed by Lizard People. All this poor professor wants to talk about is critical race theory and these people in their forties are acting like fourteen year olds because he’s white and they are black. This is an African American Lit. Class in the US.
Maybe they're acting like adults with some perspective in life and do not want to be lectured to about how horrible their lives are. It's not only white conservatives who take issue with CRT.
No...If you said critical theory to these students they would go to critical thinking and not Marxist conflict theory. Why am I being so catty about it? One of them said, “I’d like to be treated like an adult,” during our class introductions. He resents that students have to introduce themselves and say their major, considers it childish. Funny part is so do I, but I realize that “non traditional” is code for didn’t have their shit together enough to not be in the room full of twenty-one year olds who did get it right. I’m saying this as a thirty one year old non traditional student, it’s a criticism of empathy. He also resented that he had to put his phone away, of course I’m going to be judgmental. I wouldn’t miss if it were a Glenn or John doing this, I do pay attention.
Honestly I’m in a position. I’m wondering should I speak in defense of CRT? Should I just sit back and watch? For me this is a lesson that Woke is not strictly ideologically based. It can disrupt and disregard without picking and choosing. White people talking books is just white people talking books. It really is that racist.

Hey, what about an Irish Renaissance?
Reading Beckett as we speak. We should go.
