Last month, I flew down to Miami Beach to record an episode of Bridges, a podcast dedicated to fostering dialogue between its liberal hosts—the streamers Kyla Turner and Destiny—and conservative guests. Destiny is a fierce debater, so I was ready to duke it out. But it seems he and Kyla invited me in the spirit of curiosity, and they asked me questions about economics, politics, and my life that really allowed me to stretch out and fully explain myself. In this clip, they ask me how my own racial self-understanding has shaped my attitude toward Kamala Harris and the larger issue of racial representation in politics. And you can watch the full episode here.
This is a clip from the episode that went out to paying subscribers on Monday. To get access to the full episode, as well as an ad-free podcast feed, Q&As, and other exclusive content and benefits, click below.
Delightful to listen to you in this interview clip verbally straddle the worlds of being both black American, accomplished, with a desire for a solid legacy, while also identifying as a Westerner and a "human", absorbing all that you can in this short lifetime. Seems to me you have lived the best of all possible worlds! "Oh, what a lucky man he was." 🎶
