Given that we are in the 21st century, I’m comfortable with my position. History class includes hypotheticals like should we have bombed Japan. Was the internment of Japanese Americans would also be a point of discussion. Study what happens. Ask how would we approach the problem today.

Edit to add:

Conservative William F Buckley said Conservatives stood athwart history yelling “Stop”. In history class you should be free to discuss alternatives. Could Custer have used a different approach?
