3rd and last comment just incase others are taken out of context. Both Dostoevsky and Tolstoy were brutally honest, brutally honest in an important way they weren't peasants / slaves but the peasant / slave masters separated from the peasants / slaves by the whims of the tsar. Both reached the same conclusion only people that could treat other humans in a Christian way were peasants because they'd already lost everything or never had it. Its Tolstoy that says f*ck this I'm joining the peasants and giving this up instead of living in fear of it being taken. Both MLK & Gandhi wrote like Tolstoy the moment they decided to kick over the temple stalls and be jailed and crucified for it.

Also love the Dostoevsky actually Judith Butler I live in a time period where rich taking in a poor orphan girl to sexually abuse and groom her is a good thing and actually despite their being no words for child sexual abuse behaviours I can describe them in minute detail. Despite being male I can describe her in much the same way as I can describe the dead 8 year old girl killed by being raped by a drunk man my father brought home as a doctor. Just as I can describe the thoughts seconds before being shot by firing squad, because I've been reprieved seconds before being shot.

Love the Tolstoyesque - I'm not into chastity to control women, my wife got to be innocent til her wedding night and I'm jealous because my brother took me to a brothel as a child and took my innocence from me, did something I can't fix especially the way I treat women which is wrong. Also loved the Tolstoyeque - only reason I didn't have sex with Anna Karenina is because of her so wife be grateful she has some virtues because I don't. On Tolstoy I caught an STD in a brothel level of truthfulness say pretty high.
