Last month, the comic Matt McCusker came through Providence to perform, and he asked me to sit down with him to record an episode of his podcast, Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast. (“Shane” is Shane Gillis, who was a participant in my first Comedy Cellar show.) In this clip, we talk about the difficulty of insisting that individuals in struggling black communities take responsibility for their actions, even when many of them are dealing with objectively difficult circumstances and limited options. Still, we should be able to have a decent society without apologizing for criminals.
Matt also (jokingly) suggests that maybe it’s time I sell out and become a shill. The money would be nice, but I don’t think so.

Recently, Van Jones made a critical distinction between being a (self-proclaimed) "Progressive" and subscribing to "woke" ideology (racial/identity politics). In an impassioned video on X he proclaimed that the Jews who were slaughtered by Hamas were "our people. They were progressives." He added that there is nothing about Hamas that is progressive, and that those who demonstrate with Hamas flags are not progressives.
I would add that they are merely useful idiots caught up in racial identity politics (Israel = "white" = oppressors; Hamas/Hezbollah = "brown" = oppressed).
I wonder if Ta-Nehisi Coates can be a clear as Jones.
Does Glenn wish to comment?
Dr. Loury said
“I should clarify. I can’t vote for Trump. His repeated attempts to overturn and then delegitimize the 2020 election were too much for me. He’s too unpredictable, too vulgar, too much altogether.”
Trump is a conman, liar, felon and raid. Dr. Loury repeatedly criticizes Ibram Kendi as a representation of the ills of Black America. What does he think of people willing to support Trump as a Presidential candidate?
Trump sad of Liz Cheney, “Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK?” the former president said at a campaign event in Glendale with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “Let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face.”
