Collin and Chaix make several comments on the body cam video not being released and seem to make comments about body cam video that was not shown in court. The body cam video was in fact released on Aug. 10, 2020, some 70 days after the incident. I understand that it was withheld for a short time as it was part of the initial investigation, while the cell phone video would have been easily obtainable by the press. While they are not specific about which video was not allowed in court, on Day 3 of the trial the body cam video of Officers Lane, Kueng, Thao and Chauvin were shown in court. It should be noted that Chauvin's body cam fell off during the struggle with Floyd and is lying under the patrol car for most of the incident. Later it shows Chauvin going into Cup Foods and retrieving the counterfeit bill and bagging the evidence back at the patrol car. It is my understanding that this wasn't admitted because it included Lane and Keung talking about the incident, but not Chauvin. Since Lane and Keung were not witnesses at this trial it was ruled to be "here-say."
The part of officer Lane's body cam video that was not shown is after he got into the ambulance with Floyd. This segment of the video includes efforts to resuscitate Floyd. This video is very graphic and highly disturbing. If you decide to view this it cannot be unwatched. I have included the clip below in addition to the full body cam video found on the Fox New website. I have also included all the body cam video played in court at the end of Day 3.
