I don't go for the "self-hating" label even if you're using it in jest. In the case of Finkelstein, I think "self serving" is a better moniker, as he obviously relishes publicity and portraying himself as the brave maverick under constant attack by the establishment bogeymen -- the next Noam Chomsky. Really good looking guy, too, and that goes with the territory, because attracting the babes on campus is so often part of the appeal. Knowing how common is attention-seeking in the dog-eat-dog world of elite academia, I might be even be tempted to call it an industry!

Yeah, I don’t either but this is the current state of discourse. Anyone who rejects the current groupthink can only be explained by self hatred.
