i was speaking more about Dr. McWhortor’s dismissive reaction to his woke critics. as he explained, he thinks they are hypnotized.
the dismissive tone used to excuse/justify woke behavior infuriates because it removes any autonomy and consequently any responsibility an individual may have for their actions(thoughts,words,etc).
to your last point, i agree that taboos, specifically ones targeting self-critique are an impediment. but one has the possibility of gaining new perspective. if one’s narrowness is only the result of outside forces, it would be reasonable to expect that one’s openness requires outside input as well.
