Quite disappointing episode. Glenn usually plays the devil’s advocate regardless of his personal opinion on any given topic. This skill was glaringly absent in this podcast. Glenn let his guest express his opinions unchallenged for almost the entire segment.

One of the few real questions Glenn posed, Mr Barton simply did not answer. Glenn didn’t even pose the question himself, he just passed on a viewpoint of a student.

Mr Bartov offered extensive sentiments on the failure of Israel. Not once did he offer any tangible steps Israel could take to address the savagery of October 7 or Hamas in general. Clearly a cease fire will accomplish nothing. How do you respond to a organization (Hamas) that openly advocates for your (State of Israel) destruction?

I want my devil’s advocate back.

Omar has the Israeli equivalent of TDS --> NDS. I found some of the historical statements to be interesting but my mind shuts down as soon as anyone equates the IDF actions with Hamas Oct 7. Also during all of the criticisms of Israel and the IDF there was no mention of how thought Israel should have responded to Oct 7th. Politically every country in the world has political contingents on the extreme right and left, although Israel and the US are countries where these people are visible. The fact that Israel leans right now doesn’t mean it stays that way. To say otherwise means that you consider the majority of Israeli voters unable to decide their own path. The last thought I had but he made no mention of is that the killing could stop today, this minute, Hamas putting down their arms and releasing the hostages. John thank you for having this guy on your show. It was interesting, and I’m happy I know who this guy is, but I was disgusted by his positions and I am neither Jewish or Israeli.

Why is there no mention of the utter lack of democracy not even to speak of women's rights or gay rights -- why is there no attention to the human rights abuses and lack of freedom in the surrounding Arab/Islamic countries. The Arab countries make up 99% of the land mass of the Middle East.

Thanks for these insights into Netanyahu's grip on power.

Michael Hoffman provides remarkably similar sets of quotes from Nazis (Germany 1930s and early 1940s) and Jewish supremacist Zionists (20th century to the present, with the settler movement). Hamas are just as bad.

Wow! First of all, thank you for allowing this guy on your show to demonstrate that you will in the interests of hearing different views permit even the most odious self-hating demagogue to spout his venom. Without dignifying the blood libel of comparing Israel or its democratically elected government to Hamas, or picking up on the various contradictions in this man’s presentation, I will simply point to what even the most anti-Israel observes have noted: the country has never been more united than now, as a result of the barbaric attacks of October 7, and even the most left-wing, Mizrahi-hating, anti-religious Israelis have concluded that Hamas has to be exterminated with no pause, no cease-fire and no quarter. There is no crisis of democracy in Israel. The Court has ruled (rightly or wrongly is not for me to say) on the judicial reform, and that’s that. Netanyahu may or may not lose in the next election, and he may or may not be convicted of the charges against him at some point. There is no coup, no ethnic cleansing, no retreat from gay rights, no change in the democratic character of the country, and no reasonable Israeli would agree with this man’s diatribe on the subject.
