Most of their upper-caste/upper-class South Asians are 'white' i.e. live 'white' American culture even back home. Check out any recent Bollywood movie on Netflix, those people may have brown pigmentation but in every sense they live and breathe 'white' culture, specifically white American culture. To say nothing about the influence of Raj which made sure that the upper-class know more about Shakespeare, Shaw, Eliot than any Indian author. That's just a fact and a fairly well-known fact at that. It is surprising Amy Wax does not know about this history but it is not surprising, therefore, that she would react the way did because one could reasonably guess that the source of her animus towards South Asians, especially South Asian women, is personal.

Amy is triggered.

I am Southeast Asian and I agree with her. Most of the "Asians" in the US are East Asians who have lost their cultural backbone. They vote for the democrats because they think "it's cool" not because they know anything. Their parents force-feed "education" on them. lmao.

Hitler: Europe is better off without Jews. Wax: the US is better off without Asians.

Wax would’ve been an ideal Edith for Archie Bunker. But she thinks like many Americans, but those Americans are only willing to express her views when drunk.

Mr Loury. I am a South Asian Indian who votes 80% republican including 2X for Trump. Around 50% of the Indians I know vote Republican (not a true sample of Indians of course). Jewish people are also predominately Democrat supporters, (and I understand like the letter says, she comes from a good place and some of the kindest and smartest people I know and work with are Jewish). But if she wants to play this game then why doesn't she attack Jews like GEORGE SOROS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR FINANCING SO MUCH OF THE MEDIA THAT HAS MADE EVERYONE MORE LEFT WING. Again, I understand she isn't racist and I personally admire Jewish culture, but HER COMMENTS ARE MORE TRUE ABOUT THE JEWS THAN ASIANS. Especially considering the total amount of FUNDING, FINANCING AND POLITICAL DONATIONS.

Lol I am pretty sure in not many years her offsprings (if she has any) will be told the same thing as she is telling Asians. What a joke. By the way Asians will look down on you in not far future as it become the center of world economy. Enjoy. It will come much faster before you realize.

Her rant is really funny, it is as if she is ( in a veiled way of course, as is the wont of her ilk ) crying out “ The South Asian Elites ( to protect herself from charges of Racism, she misleadingly terms Indian immigrants, most of them first generation college educated, successful in the US as individuals rather than as some conniving secret Cabal, as Elites ! ) will not replace us ( i,e. the Jews )“ an echo of the “ The JEWS will not replace us “ that Christian Right Wing demonstrators were chanting in Charlottesville, VA back in 2017. Ever since Einstein came over and a few years later Lise Meitner smuggled out the secrets of the first Atomic fission from the Kaiser Wilhelm Institut Berlin, the Jews in this country have had an automatic entry into the Sciences, Academia and Policymaking as leaders, even though perhaps very few of them would come close to an Einstein ( just look at the mess that lucrative Medical Research which they have dominated and milked, is in ), So Amy get used to it, find something that you are qualified to do, even if it means having to give up your cosy Bully Pulpit at U Penn. I hear there are plenty of opportunities these days for hard & sincere Burger Flippers.

Loury is clueless about the damage H1-B Visa has done at many levels and ignorant to make a statement that U.S. needs to import Asia or any other nationality for top level workers.

This is big tech and Silicon Valley lie for low wages and pauses diversity.

They use 3rd party recruiting to by pass hiring laws and drive wages down.

U.S. education dumb down and admissions of foreign students.

Big Tech indentured servants.

Facts and numbers show original innovation is led by people raised and grew up in the “U.S. culture experience” by far!

U. S. STEM graduates are discriminated against by 3rd party recruiters who by pass the hiring laws for job posting.

It’s all about driving wages dow for profit.

Penn should fire her ass for making stupid comments like this. What an idiot who should not be educating our kids in America. Everyone in America is an immigrant, unless you are a Red Indian. Don't try to give her excuses, she is a racist!

Around 1:24 in the Amy wax seemed to allude to the attended a conference where the debate surrounding what is sometimes referred to as the ‘great divergence’ was taking place. She expressed her view that she found the explanations being suggested as to why the West became so powerful to be lacking. One of the more interesting participants in that discussion in recent decades is Dierdre McCloskey in her extensive ‘Bourgeois Trilogy’ in which she questions many of the assumptions about capitalism the forces that encouraged what some refer to as the Great Enrichment. I have only begun to tackle the trilogy but have read her short, ‘Leave me alone, and I will make you rich’ coauthored with Art Carden. She contends that things like slavery and colonialism do not explain the rise of the west and instead emphasizes the changes that allowed the Bourgeois the freedom to innovate as being key to understanding these developments. While looking up some information on Professor Wax, I noticed she coauthored a piece called, ‘Paying the price for breakdown of the country's bourgeois culture’ (https://www.inquirer.com/philly/opinion/commentary/paying-the-price-for-breakdown-of-the-countrys-bourgeois-culture-20170809.html) I’m not sure if Professor McCloskey would be someone who fits for the Glenn Show, but her views and emphasis raise some interesting points about success.

Not moving in the broader circles that much of your audience does, I’d never heard of Amy Wax before. I listened to the discussion 2 days ago on Spotify (whilst painting the house) and personally found it to be very engaging… thanks to the both of you. Wax is certainly no shrinking violet and she couched much of what she said quite bluntly and without the standard disclaimers that academics seem to employ when about to say something controversial. She exhibited the kind of courage that is all to rare in the current age.
