One of the most pressing questions of the second Trump administration is a question about questions: What counts as a serious question and what doesn’t? Trump has raised the possibility of turning Canada into the 51st state. I have no idea what that even means. But I can see the logic in his argument for “acquiring” Greenland. He’s dead serious about reducing the size of the federal government. But his chosen instrument for that task is Elon Musk, a guy who, business successes aside, has clownish tendencies. Or fascist tendencies, if you believe that Elon Musk hoisted the Nazi salute (twice) at Trump’s inauguration.
