I’ve been working with Glenn since Autumn of 2020. When we started, The Glenn Show was one of the most successful programs on Robert Wright’s Bloggingheads.tv platform, but still just one of a few, without its own subscriber base or income stream. BhTV needed to optimize its spending, and I was tasked with making TGS profitable. By the end of 2021, we accomplished that goal, and we decided not to stop there.
I wish you'd get away from YouTube, considering it's part of Google. You musy be aware of how they track you, sell your data, collude with democrats to suppress vital information, and more.
Though a subscriber, I wont watch any of your content on GooTube, and in anycae, block all Google on my computer.
It would be labor-intensive, but the right thing to do is leave Google and go to another, freer, more responsible service.
I have two grumpy old man complaints. I don’t provide these out of frustration. Rather I think they’ll help give a more complete sense of audience reaction.
First: I loathe prerolls. Because they’re just regurgitating content that will be Conveyed in its correct context later in the video, they’re a waste of time. It’s irritating to have to tap forward until you hit the actual start of the video. I understand there’s some rationale about enticing new viewers, but I imagine there are methods that don’t require thirty seconds.
Second: Can’t stand the theme music. To be fair, most podcasts I listen to have even worse (and longer) intro music, so I’m not going to pretend it’s a huge annoyance. But I want to be honest and say that I’m not a fan and wish it weren’t there.
Glenn is a national treasure. It is such a shame that public intellectuals who happen to be black and not hard core leftist ideologues get so little exposure. Most people might know of Thomas Sowell, but there are so many others with something interesting to say.
I was just about to say something similar. Thankfully, I read a few of the comments first! I would add John to the list of black intellectuals I treasure. I absolutely love the fact that neither of them is part of the step-and-fetch-it, leftist, race-baiters. (You might be able to discern my leanings from that screed, although I tried to be coy!) Anyway, much appreciate the update and looking forward to more.
ETA: If I were to make any type of request, I would suggest bite-sized TGS "short takes" that cover a subject but are easier to squeeze in than the somewhat typical 60-minute plus episodes.
Nikita and Glenn, In the ultra competitive commentary podcasting space, the Glenn show stands out to me. I’m happy to support your efforts and look forward to 2023.
Thanks for the report! 2022 has been a great year for The Glenn Show!
A proposal for Mr. Petrov: Can a '2022 highlights reel' be made containing < 5 min snippets of interesting parts of the most popular (or even all) episodes of the year? Multiple guests engaged on the show this year and listeners/viewers will not remember all of them, so it can be for them a good walk down memory lane.
Reference: Coleman Hughes has tried this on his podcast.
Nikita, how do you explain the horrendous quality of the audio during the Loury/Hamish interview conducted at MI's studio? Surely TGS can and will do better in the future.
The music and preroll is fine. Makes the show feel like it’s more than a blog and gives it a journalist’s edge. I also now associate the show with that music. My two cents.
I want to say that I got here around Summer of 2020, might have been a little earlier. I can remember the change from Bloggingheads to Substack. The difference is night and day in terms of professional production.
Great summary of a successful year. I appreciate Glenn’s openness about the role his faith plays in his life - I had a similar experience of overcoming addition that radically changed me. I agree with review above that Glenn is a national treasure. One very tiny suggestion - since we’ve gone digital we don’t “tape” anymore...

Unfortunately YouTube has enormous reach as it’s pretty much a monopoly ( along with the rest of Google ). At least add a Rumble channel.

Sounds like you just wrote your own 2022 employment review, and it reads well.
Just keep putting out thoughtful content and we will all continue to listen! Thanks for being a go to source!

Thanks for the update. It's great to know that the show is going well. I always enjoy the Youtube videos.
Nikita,
This is great. As a paid subscriber on the 'Stack I feel like a shareholder getting an annual report!
Keep up the great work everyone and Happy New Year.

Can you explain how donating to "white empowerment" would be considered racist, but donating to "black empowerment" would not be?
Great year. Happy New Year.
