If we are responsible for the global economy, can we (the everyday American) get a lot of credit for raising so much of the world out of poverty? How about are dampening effect on large scale war? Since the 70s when globalization really took off the American people have seen their wages stagnate while the rest of the world, especially the developing world, have massive increases in wages and quality of life.

The most important thing to state in the immigration discussion is that the US is one of the top LEGAL immigrant accepting nations. We are not anti-immigrant. We can then discuss how the formula can be tweaked as well as about illegal immigration. This is about law and good governance, not willy nilly ways to skirt existing regulations.
