I very proudly wore the label "Black Conservative" in the 90s. I fit rather neatly into Glenn's first and third categories--especially the third.

But as we all know, the term conservative has morphed into something quite different. Much like the GOP, it is highly associated with Trumpism. It is no longer about an economic or governing philosophy. It's mostly a mentality, or even an attitude. It's "MAGA". A paleoconservative #PatBuchanan (minus the intellect) worldview.

Revanchist is a good word. "Take our country back!" etc.

Ironically, foreign policy hawks were called conservatives back in the day. But not nowadays.

Free market capitalism was a hallmark of conservatism in the 90s. But not nowadays.

White nationalism was generally discouraged at the top levels of the GOP in the 90s. Can't say that in 2024.

Like Glenn and John, I am opposed to policies like race-based affirmative action. I am even more opposed to the mindset that leads us to such policies.

I hate when people exaggerate the effects of racism on the average African-American. I hate when people assume that because you're Black you probably believe in X or Y.

These are the things that make me sound "conservative" to a lot of people. But in truth, no one hates Trumpism more than I do.

Glenn, you are conservative enough for this yid-honky. We were all liberals once back when civil rights meant promoting love and unity between black and white americans. Now the left glorifies blame games that actually promote racial division and hate. It all began with Marxist lies and false propaganda in the academy, infected and funded and amplified by traditional Muslim antisemitism and the false association of Zionism with colonization. There is thus liberal support for terror and the obsession of certain clerics to destroy Israel and kill or cleanse the jew from the middle east. At its core, the Nuevo-progressive ideology reflects shame and envy and jealousy about the deep weakness of many nonwestern societies, and their inability to resist western colonization or to adapt to the modern world.

Loury comments repeatedly about Kendi. Then he mentions Coates and Jones. He does not comment on the disgusting presentation of Diamond & Silk and Herschel Walker. We even had the Shucky-Ducky of Herman Cain. You think that Blacks weren’t offended by the Conservative stereotypes of Blacks?

Herman Cane is as black as you are, and a very successful business executive. Your attempt to silence him and deny his agency, is disgusting.

LOL. If Herman Cain is silent it is because he is COVID dead. His words and book live on. I disagree with what Herman Cain said . I put Cain in the same category as Herschel Walker, and Diamond & Silk for good reason.

I get your point. But it is a back-handed acknowledgment that the 'liberal' view of blacks is very biased, even bigoted.

Can you translate your comment to English?

I'll type real slow....In pointing out conservative bias by and about blacks, you reference the liberal bias by and about blacks.

Why are you sensitive about conservative bias, but passive about liberal bias? That, of course, makes you...biased.

Thanks for the translation. Conservative pundits are no different than Kendi, that is what I thought. Kendi is never a point of discussion for me.

Black historians like Nell Irvin Painter were among the first to discuss flaws in the 1619 Project.

Conservatives seem trapped in a time warp.

I usually disagree with your views on conservatives, but that was a good article with a good point. History is not just "Black and White".

Conservatives assume that non-Conservatives take everything written by other non-Conservatives as gospel. We do not. Remember, Black voters played a major role in shutting down the Bernie Sanders campaign. Blacks are not controlled by White Liberals ( initial typo said Conservatives). That idea is a Republican delusion.

We look at Nikki Harley and remember that she had to be forced to take the Confederate flag off state Capitol grounds. We are offended by Diamond & Silk, Hershel Walker, etc. We were gleeful when Kanye West supported Trump. Thank God, he disagrees with us. West put on a minstrel show in the White House.

Nikki Haley embarrasses herself when she discusses race. Tim Scott smile for Trump. Uncle Tom was a heroic character. Scott comes across as the Sambo character. Uncle Tom was honorable. Sambo beat Uncle Tom to death.

Blacks are pragmatic and understand nothing good will occur during a Trump Presidency. The stock market is up. Inflation is coming down, book bans are less like under Democrats. Conservatives are a clown show. Attacking Taylor Swift……..Please.
